Cabbage STEAKS

Let us be clear.  I love steak. But I do not expect vegetables to replace meat when it comes to taste and texture. That being said, I love vegetables and sometimes having vegetables in place of meat is really satisfying, easier and less expensive.  So, whether this is the main dish, or the side kick it, is still tasty.

Serves a family.

1 large head of cabbage

2-3 tablespoons of olive oil

1-2 Tablespoons of steak seasoning (I use Montreal Steak Seasoning)

Salt and pepper if needed

Prepare the grill as you would for steak.  Hot and coals pushed to the side. If you are not grilling preheat the oven to 450 degrees.

Remove any outer leaves that do not look appealing.  Slice the cabbage into 1 inch slices.  Cut out the core on the pieces that need it being careful to keep the steak intact.  Place onto a baking sheet and drizzle with oil and steak seasoning.  Salt and pepper to taste.  If putting in the oven bake at 450 degrees until the tops are a touch crispy. 20-30 minutes.  If you are using a grill, place on the grill until the sides are slightly charred.  Flip and do the same to the other side. This is quick, so keep an eye on it.   Finish with a little oil and salt and pepper.
